When we began this journey down the Pan-American, we never entertained the thought of travelling to Brazil. On the map it is a straight line from our home in Canada to the southern tip of Argentina. And Brazil isn’t on that line. But then we didn’t plan on the pandemic either, or health issues, or getting older. Haha.
On one of the weekends that we spent exploring Buenos Aires we ran into a young Brazilian couple. Twice. That’s enough to become friends. The four of us had a long chat sitting on a bench in the Japanese Gardens. They thought we would love Brazil. Brazil has everything they said. It’s full of life and its gorgeous.
So we put it on the back burner. But then last year, on a short trip to see Vanna and take care of her legal requirements, we had a connecting flight in Sao Paulo. As we flew over the city we saw this vast spread of red rooftops blanketed by a lush green forest. It was unexpected and captivating. At that moment my heart was set on seeing more of Brazil.
In Brazil we won’t have Vanna. But we will be travelling for three weeks with long time Canadian friends who are actually on route to a wedding in Colombia. We have accommodations booked in Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Manaus and Florianopolis.
And then Bob and I will get back to Vanna and restart our Argentinian travel.
We are excited!

Sounds fantastic! Have a great time…looking forward to your blog posts!
